چکیده

We determine market segments by clustering households on the basis of their average choice elasticities across purchases and brands w.r.t. price, sales promotion and brand loyalty. The cluster analysis technique used is a maximum likelihood method which allows varying size and orientation and assumes constant volume. Elasticities originate from choice models with alternatively linear and nonlinear utility functions. Choice models are estimated on the basis of household scanner data. Segments are interpreted by means of multiple discriminant analysis and multinomial logit models whose predictors are elasticities of predictors and external variables (i.e. number of purchases, number of brands bought, income and household size), respectively. 2002 Published by Elsevier B.V.

Developing a Macro-segmentation Model at Industry Level: Iranian Banking Industry

Drastic changes and turbulence in macro-economic factors have the greatest impact on banks target market attractiveness in Iran. It is assumed that conventional segmentation models at the corporate level are not efficient for banking system. This study aims to develop a new segmentation model at the industry level for banks of Iran. For this purpose, structures and variables at the industry lev...

Image Segmentation: Type–2 Fuzzy Possibilistic C-Mean Clustering Approach

Image segmentation is an essential issue in image description and classification. Currently, in many real applications, segmentation is still mainly manual or strongly supervised by a human expert, which makes it irreproducible and deteriorating. Moreover, there are many uncertainties and vagueness in images, which crisp clustering and even Type-1 fuzzy clustering could not handle. Hence, Type-...

Elasticities of market shares and social health insurance choice in Germany: a dynamic panel data approach.

In 1996, free choice of health insurers was introduced to the German social health insurance system. One objective was to increase efficiency through competition. A crucial precondition for effective competition among health insurers is that consumers search for lower-priced health insurers. We test this hypothesis by estimating the price elasticities of insurers' market shares. We use unique p...

An Improved Automatic EEG Signal Segmentation Method based on Generalized Likelihood Ratio

It is often needed to label electroencephalogram (EEG) signals by segments of similar characteristics that are particularly meaningful to clinicians and for assessment by neurophysiologists. Within each segment, the signals are considered statistically stationary, usually with similar characteristics such as amplitude and/or frequency. In order to detect the segments boundaries of a signal, we ...
